Cardinal of Spring

Hello everyone! Finally, spring is here. I shot this brilliant red male cardinal last week, just after the snow had melted. Photographing birds is hard because they are so fast and don't hang around too long. You have to be patient and wait for them to show up, or you can go to where they hang out. Happy birding from Geo "The Hawk" man!

Black and White Bird

Hey shooters! Wow, I'm on a bird photo mission. I caught this female Downy Woodpecker foraging for food this morning. I loaded the image into Lightroom 5 and converted it to Black and White. I also lightened it a little to bring out the detail and contrast. I love Lightroom 5, the software gives you a lot of options.

Snow Birds

Hey shooters! I had the day off and it just happened to snow. I photographed a few birds flying from tree to tree. I got these guys, a titmouse and a blue jay, but I missed a beautiful woodpecker. I just opened up my window and watched and waited for the action. I used a Nikon DSLR with a 80-200 f/2.8 lens. My exposure was 800 sec. at f/ 2.8. The camera was set at 800 ISO. If you like nature shots like I do, always be ready for opportunities like this one. You will miss some, but you will also get some. Happy shooting!
