Cooper's Hawk

Hey nature fans! I'm a bird watcher, and this Cooper's Hawk was just outside my window. I set up my camera and clicked away until my fine feathered friend flew off to try and catch a tasty treat. I used a Nikon D700 along with a Nikkor 300mm telephoto lens with a 2x teleconverter attached. The camera's ISO was 400, the shutter speed was 1/320 sec., and the aperture set at F8. The focal length of 600mm brought the view of this bird of prey closer to create a dynamic photo.

Dupont Circle Fountain

The point and shoot camera has come a long way. I carry one everywhere. The image quality is better than an iPhone or another handheld device with a built-in camera. The image here of the Dupont Circle fountain, located in North West Washington, DC, was captured with an Olympus Stylus TG-610. I take a photograph almost everyday. The trick is to have the camera, any camera, with you, ready to capture what your eye sees. A beautiful sunset in the city, in the middle of winter.
