Metro Rail Train

Hey, how is everyone? It was a long winter. I escaped the winter for a few days and spent some time in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I took a lot of shots at the beach, but this one of a metro car overhead and a cityscape in the background, is one of my favorites. I like trains of all kinds. I waited for the train to come. Waiting for something to happen takes patience. Be ready to watch, listen, and respond.

Cooper's Hawk

Hey nature fans! I'm a bird watcher, and this Cooper's Hawk was just outside my window. I set up my camera and clicked away until my fine feathered friend flew off to try and catch a tasty treat. I used a Nikon D700 along with a Nikkor 300mm telephoto lens with a 2x teleconverter attached. The camera's ISO was 400, the shutter speed was 1/320 sec., and the aperture set at F8. The focal length of 600mm brought the view of this bird of prey closer to create a dynamic photo.

Dupont Circle Fountain

The point and shoot camera has come a long way. I carry one everywhere. The image quality is better than an iPhone or another handheld device with a built-in camera. The image here of the Dupont Circle fountain, located in North West Washington, DC, was captured with an Olympus Stylus TG-610. I take a photograph almost everyday. The trick is to have the camera, any camera, with you, ready to capture what your eye sees. A beautiful sunset in the city, in the middle of winter.

Winter Night in the City

Hey shooters! My New Year's resolution is to post on my blog once or twice a week. I saw this scene on the way home. I used my Olympus Tough TG-610 camera. I set the camera's white balance to tungsten light setting. An ISO setting of 400 was set on the camera. I like the blurred image of the person walking into the frame. The advertisement of the woman and the beer bottle adds brightness to the scene.

Cargo Locomotive

Hey, photogs! It's a new year and I hope you all are taking pictures. I love trains, and this is a CSX locomotive engine I photographed while waiting for a Metro train. I like taking pictures of them because the train reminds me of how America runs its cargo across this great country. I used my Fujifilm X10 digital camera. Remember, if you see it, photograph it!

Retro Self-portrait

Happy New Year! An assignment, if you accept it, is to photograph yourself. It leads to a greater understanding of yourself. You become the subject. If you dare. One of my first cameras was a Kodak Instamatic, which used 126 film. I bought this one for a dollar at a yard sale. It reminds me of when I got my start. www.georgepagephotography.com

Season's Greetings

Happy Holidays! I like to photograph night scenes during the holiday rush. I look for symbols of the season. I found a bright star light, which brought me much delight. I used my Fujifilm X10. The ISO was 800, the shutter speed at 1/30 sec., with an aperture of f 2.5. The focal length was set at 28mm. To view my Street Photo Gallery visit my website at www.georgepagephotography.com
